Galatians | Paul’s Apostleship and Gospel
Season 2, Episode 136
In this episode, Michael and Zach continue their series through Galatians by examining Paul’s defense of both his apostleship and the gospel he preached. After confronting the Galatians for turning toward a distorted gospel, Paul now answers the obvious question: Why should they trust him instead of the teachers influencing them? Working through Galatians 1:11–2:10, the discussion traces Paul’s former life in Judaism, his dramatic conversion, his claim that the gospel came directly through revelation from Jesus Christ, and his limited early contact with the Jerusalem apostles. Michael and Zach also explore Paul’s later meeting with James, Peter, and John, the significance of Titus not being compelled to undergo circumcision, and the apostles’ recognition that Paul and Peter were preaching the same gospel to different audiences. Throughout the episode, the emphasis remains on divine initiative, gospel unity, and the fact that Paul’s message was neither invented by him nor dependent upon human approval.
